The Martial Law years still bring a lot of painful memories to every Filipino people. While it is true that Marcos did a lot of good things for the country, the list of human violations and crimes is just as long. For many of these are what overshadows his achievements. In the 80’s, things started to go bad for our Country.

Ferdinand Marcos cast such a long and terrible shadow on the Philippines that the word Martial Law is always associated with him. They are talking as if no one proclaimed Martial Law, as if he is the worst President that Philippines ever had. In fact, the Presidents after him did the worst thing than Marcos proclaimed Martial Law.

When Marcos declared Martial Law in 1972, he was able to intimidate quite a few people but many mire simply gave him benefit of the doubt. After all the man seemed resolute enough with a military smartly marching to his tune. Like what I’ve said, he is not the only one who declared Martial Law. All the good things he had done was covered with the dark years of anger and sacrifices.

For as the pain he imparted to the citizens made a scar that will always remind people of who Marcos is, what happened in the past and et cetera.
