STATE OF THE PHILIPPINES UNDER THE PRESIDENCY OF FERDINAND E. MARCOS

As a young student, I don’t have a definite answer or idea on Marcos. During the Presidency of Ferdinand Marcos in the Philippines, people reacted positively and negatively. Philippines once became a tiger country in the whole Asia because of his strategic way of ruling and trading with other countries that made the economy to rapidly grow. The Philippines became powerful and is able to compete with other countries head to head all because of him.

In my opinion President Ferdinand E. Marcos is the greatest President of the Philippines because during his Presidency in the Philippines, Philippines created a name for itself and Marcos built roads, schools, hospitals, and many buildings that’s until right now is still very useful to the Filipino people. He contributed a lot more than what the other presidents had done; combined. In addition, during his time the rebellion was rampant so he declared the Martial law for sake of the Filipino People but because of the martial law, the military force of Marcos took people against their rights and tortured them. No one knows the truth behind this however; there are witnesses of such happenings. It is a mystery. No one knows the answer, is Marcos truly a great president who only hopes for the best of the country or a complete dictator who abuses his powers and takes control of the people and maybe it is neither of those.

Nevertheless, as I stated, it is only my opinion towards Ferdinand Marcos. It was right that the Filipino people united and fought against Marcos even though he had made great changes for our country his way of controlling the people is not right.
