NO CHOICE

Martial law is a military government involving the suspension of ordinary law. No one in my family have ever experienced the griefs of martial law and none of my relatives knows what’s behind “Martial Law.”
If I were given the chance to be born in that generation where President Ferdinand E. Marcos proclaimed the Martial Law, I would say that I would not want to be born at that time but If I did, I would have no power to disobey the law and listen to what my heart says. That we should fight for our rights and rebel against that martial law. Fear would fill me.
I don’t ever want to be put in that situation, those times where the Martial Law is still active and that so called “Batas Militar” where it’s common to be tortured and be taken off your rights. No one ever wants to feel pain, but at that time the people had no choice but to just take whatever happens to them because the more you fight back the tougher the situation gets.
That’s why if people ask me if I agree to martial law being proclaimed again, then I would say no to that. I can’t help but fear feeling pain and experiencing griefs in life even if there are some benefits to it.
